Ilya Likhov, CEO of NEOSUN Energy, took the stage as an invited speaker at India Energy Week in New Delhi, one of the world’s most influential events in the energy sector. Known for his expertise in solar energy, he shared his insights on Hybrid Solar Solutions and their crucial role in powering remote regions.
India is currently among the Top 3 leading economies globally. Yet, over 300 million people — comparable to the population of the United States — still live without access to reliable electricity, especially in remote regions.
“India is currently among the top three leading economies in the world. However, more than 300 million people in India still live without access to reliable electricity. This number is comparable to the population of a country like the United States. India’s economy is growing at an incredible pace, and in the future, both energy consumption and energy shortages will only increase“.
This is why the transition to reliable and affordable energy sources such as solar energy should not only be only discussed today, but also actually implemented in practice.
During the presentation, CEO passionately advocated for Hybrid Solar Solutions, which integrate multiple energy sources to provide reliable power even in the most challenging locations.
Hybrid systems are remarkably flexible. They adapt to varying energy demands and production conditions, ensuring an uninterrupted power supply even in the most remote locations. They enhance grid resilience, provide backup power during outages, and can be scaled to meet the needs of any enterprise — from residential homes to large industrial facilities. Whether it’s a mining company, a manufacturing plant, or a household, hybrid solutions guarantee access to affordable and reliable energy.
Ilya Likhov’s perspective is backed by extensive international experience. Under his leadership, NEOSUN Energy has successfully implemented hybrid solar projects across Africa and the Middle East, regions facing similar energy challenges as remote areas in India: “We’ve seen firsthand how hybrid solar systems transform lives and businesses. By providing cost-effective and sustainable energy, we empower communities and stimulate economic growth,” Ilya Likhov shared.
Presentation emphasized the game-changing potential of Energy Storage System (ESS) in modern energy solutions. ESS is the process of storing energy for future utilization. Such storage is limited to a certain quantity and guarantees usage for a calculative timeline. Once stored energy is utilized in full, the storage device starts to store the energy again for another use.
ESS technologies are emerging as crucial components in the transition to more sustainable energy systems. Unlike traditional grids that require continuous fossil fuel combustion to ensure energy availability, storage technologies can store excess energy produced during peak production times, such as midday when solar output is highest, and release it during periods of low production or high demand.
During the presentation Ilya Likhov also discussed the benefits of the PowerHuB system as the lowest cost source of clean and reliable off-grid power for remote locations: stand-alone, turn-key system that combines solar energy production with integrated energy storage in a readily deployable and easily movable form that’s ideal for remote power applications. He also gave insights on the topic of Microgrids and their importance for current energy transition.
Leadership in Global Energy Dialogue
Discussion at India Energy Week wasn’t only about presenting solutions; it was about leading a dialogue on the future of energy. Sharing the stage with industry leaders from Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, Siemens Energy, and Engineers India Limited, CEO Ilya Likhov contributed to shaping the strategic direction of energy innovation in the region.
“Events like India Energy Week are crucial. They foster international collaboration, bringing together the best minds in the industry to tackle global energy challenges. Such events help companies find new sources of energy for their enterprises, improve efficiency, and, of course, enhance the overall energy supply of the region”, Ilya Likhov noted at his latest interview for IEW Media Partner – Energy Worth Online.
