The Solar Energy Investment Conference Energy Week-2017 dedicated to solar energy took place in Yerevan from January 25th to January 27th. The conference was organized by the Armenian government and foundation of the Renewable Resources and Energy Efficiency with the direct participation of the World Bank.

The conference attracted around 300 participants from around the world – representatives of investment companies and the banking sector, the Government of Armenia, solar manufacturers and developers.

Speaking at the opening of the conference, the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan noted that in recent years the cost of solar plants has decreased by about 80%, so that solar technologies have become competitive on a commercial scale. According to him, Armenia, as part of Eurasian Union, can become a bridge for investment and trade between Iran and Eurasian Economic Union. Therefore, to create an attractive field for investment, a series of legislative reforms had been implemented with the use of the best international experiences.

Armenian market of solar energy is one of the most promising in the world in terms of sun exposure and the number of sunny days per year. And now advanced legislation and government support with the guarantee of repayment for the produced electricity can turn this small country into an energy exporter. This is an excellent opportunity for the potential investors as well as solar module manufacturers.

As the result of the conference participation NEOSUN Energy management is considering the possibility of opening a permanent representation in Armenia. The corresponding decision will be made during the year of 2017.
